Governance & Board of Directors

As an organization, SMSSL is being managed by its own governance system, developed in line with the SH Cooperative Act. The representative General Body is consisting of the President & Secretary of each SHG who in turn select zonal representatives / directors to form the Board of Director. Currently there are 13 Directors representing 13 zones. The Board members are drawn locally and are committed to work for the cooperative. Democratic principles have been largely practiced in the governance of SMSSL. While the General Body meets once in a year, the Board of Directors meets on a monthly basis, deliberates on the pre-set agenda and takes decisions on a consultative manner. All BoD members do attend the Board meetings and contribute in the proceedings. The Board approves the annual budget and reviews the performance of the cooperative, management team. Collectively it also provides the overall guidance and supports to the senior management. The BoD also has got a few sub-committees for the better governance of the institution. |
