One of the core objectives of SMSSL is to bring economic empowerment of its members by providing business development services for micro enterprise, facilitating market linkages and ensuring need based financial services especially credit for that. While providing the loans for production purposes, SMSSL strongly encouraged its members to take up various household economic activities for getting enhanced income. The cooperative facilitated periodical IGP trainings in collaboration with other resource agencies on different household enterprises including mushroom planting, Jhuna Agarbati/candle making, pickle making, garment making, idol making, preparation of fast food, food processing and preservation, jhute article making, Flori culture, book binding, File leaf/Register/Envelope making, Screen printing, artificial Jewellery making, Business entrepreneurship etc. The trainees are being provided with loan assistance to establish their respective business units.
As a result of which quite a number of well-stuffed shops- grocery, beetle, stationary, sweet, fruits etc, vending units, tailoring centers, small hotels, eateries, beauty parlors, automobile service centers, Auto rickshaw, stove repairing, Ice cream making, carpentry / Badi / papad / mask making, Plaster of paris / soft toy making, Bleaching / phenyl / refill-making, Glass power making, Betel nut cutting, poultry, goatery, vegetable cultivation and other agricultural and allied activity units have been started and run successfully by many of the women entrepreneurs and their family members in our operational area with the timely credit and other supports from SMSSL.
